Modern new build the heart of Liverpool

This incredible new-build is a considered celebration of light, natural materials, and clean architectural lines a project where restraint and clarity allow the design to truly speak. From a photographer’s perspective, it’s the kind of space that rewards attention to detail: generous ceiling heights, extensive glazing, and a carefully controlled palette that responds beautifully to natural light throughout the day.

One of the defining features of the home is the consistent use of Douglas Fir, which appears throughout the interior from the kitchen cabinetry to the ceilings, hallways, and bedrooms. Its warmth softens the architecture while reinforcing a strong sense of cohesion across the spaces. For designers, this repetition of material is key to the success of the project, creating visual continuity without feeling heavy or overworked.

Photographing the house was very much about respecting the original design intent. Rather than over-styling, the focus was on proportion, balance, and how each space relates to the next. The interplay between light, timber, and glass changes subtly throughout the day, revealing different qualities in the materials and highlighting the craftsmanship behind the joinery and detailing.

Having worked closely with high-end cabinet makers and interior designers, I approach projects like this with an understanding of how spaces are meant to function and be experienced. My aim when photographing interiors is always to capture not just how they look, but how they feel — ensuring that the images reflect the thought, craftsmanship, and design decisions that went into creating them.
